This is given in loving memory of Alan Kettell who was a most kindly uncle to me as I grew up. When he married Irene my family was thrilled. They suited each other so well. She was the more flamboyant, but he was the rock. Sometimes shy and understated, he had deep understanding of many things and always had time to listen. It was a privilege to have known him.
